Now that we’ve removed all contingencies and have hired a title company in the previous steps its time to select and hire a moving company.
Hire Movers, Start Packing
You can get moving company estimates, or schedule your own moving truck. You have your dates scheduled and know when you need to be out of your home. Please leave time after your vacancy to clean the property before closing. Just to be safe, try to be out one or two days prior to closing.
Moving Supplies
Depending on which option you select with the moving company you may or may not need moving boxes. You can have the movers pack your personal belongs for an additional fee. If you prefer to pack yourself you purchase boxes directly from the moving company or elsewhere if you’re hoping to save a little money.
You can find moving boxes at most big box hardware store.
Hoping to save even more money check out local community buy-sell groups on Facebook and Next Door.
What to Do with Pets and Children When Moving
Moving can be very stressful for your pets and children. They can get underfoot and cause injury. Consider asking friends or family to take them in for a few days while you move and get settled.
What Items to Leave When Moving
If it’s attached to the walls, chances are it stays with the home. Shelving, blinds, and rods, etc. typically stay. Appliances included in the sale need to stay.
The sales contract specifies which items convey but if there are any questions, ask us. Taking things you aren’t supposed to can cause problems at the final walkthrough and delay closing.
